Lavigne and Linklater

Straight from the set of Richard Linklater's new film, currently shooting in Austin, comes word that Canadian pop singer Avril Lavigne is one of the stars. She joins Oscar nominee Catalina Sandino Moreno ("Maria Full of Grace") and, according to the Hollywood Reporter, Greg Kinnear, Ethan Hawke, Kris Kristofferson and Patricia Arquette. The trade magazine confirms Lavigne's involvement.

The movie, an adaptation of Eric Schlosser's acclaimed nonfiction book "Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All-American Meal," is an ensemble piece that "follows a number of different characters and their interlinked story lines, set in and around the town of Cody, Colo.," writes the Hollywood Reporter. A call to Linklater's office was not returned late Monday.

Avril Lavigne protagonizará una película junto a Ethan Hawke y Patricia Arquette
 
 La joven cantante canadiense parece tan centrada en su futuro dentro del cine como en la música. Si hace unas semanas se informaba de que Avril iba a participar en un film junto a Richard Gere, ahora se ha conocido su participación en Fast food nation junto a un elenco estelar de actores y actrices.

La película será dirigida por Richard Linklater (Escuela de rock, Antes del atardecer) y está basada en el best seller homónimo del escritor Erich Schlosser. Según informa dotmusic.com, Avril Lavigne dará vida a una joven activista contra la industria cárnica relacionada con las cadenas de fase food.

Llama la atención que el productor de este proyecto será Malcolm McLaren, antiguo manager de The Sex Pistols. En cuanto a los compañeros de reparto de Avril Lavigne, la fansite española dedicada a la candiense avrilspain.com[/SIZE] ( :o ) cita a Patricia Arquette (Médium), Ethan Hawke (colaborador habitual de Linklater), el también cantante Kris Kristofferson, el nominado al Oscar Greg Kinnear y el estupendo secundario Luis Guzmán, entre otros.

Más proyectos

La participación de Avril Lavigne en Fast food nation se une a las ya conocidas en The flock, en la que compartirá pantalla con Richard Gere, y la película de animación Over the hedge, en la que la artista prestará su voz a uno de los personajes.

Pero además de todo ello, Avril no se olvida de la música y está previsto que en 2006 se publique su tercer disco tras sus exitosos Let go (2002) y Under my skin.
