Para mi ayer, el corto de FAME quedó totalmente eclipsado por la pieza performance art, que montó en el Guggenheim. Creia que no podría admirarla más, pero lo ha conseguido.
Hay videos por ahí, pero os voy a ahorrar el sufrimiento. Aquí un resumen de lo que pasó:
Lady Gaga organizó una fiesta de máscaras en el museo Guggenheim de Nueva York, que cerraba la semana de la moda allí. Sería la presentación del perfume: FAME
Lo único que sabíamos hasta casi el último momento es que ese dia se iba a estrenar el corto de 5 minutos de la fragancia, y que el evento se iba a retransmitir en vivo via ustream en littlemonsters.com. (Si no me equivoco dirigido por Steven Klein tambien).
Total, el livestream empezaba a las 7:30 (Hora de NY) pues hasta las 9 no vimos nada de Gaga, solo imágenes de un 'cuarto' y música misteriosa de fondo... A esa hora Gaga apareció, dormida, y permaneció así bastante rato, mientras dejaba que los asistentes la tocaran la mano y el pelo. Despues se despertó, se fue a preparar al espejo, meó en un cubo... Y para terminar, se rapó la parte trasera de la cabeza y se hizo un tatuaje.
Se trata de una alegoría sobre la fama, muy Warholiano en algunos sentidos.

The sleeping thing is the key to understanding the whole performance art piece. The whole thing was about our obsession with pop stars and idols, so much so that we want to know about EVERY little detail of their lives.
Think back to 2007. People followed Britney around LA for HOURS, as she got gas, went to Starbucks, McDonalds, etc. Everything was photographed and written about and obsessed over. If people could have watched Britney sleep, they would have. She was metaphorically on the biggest stage in the world for that whole year during her breakdown. Everyone watched everything.
So tonight, Gaga put that on a literal stage. People tend to forget that Britney got a tattoo on the back of her head the same night she shaved it. She turned the decay of celebrity, the iconic image of a troubled star shaving her head as a cry for help, into a piece of art... It's literally taking place in a museum, after all.
She doesn't think you're going to be fascinated and thrilled watching her sleep for two hours. She's doing that specifically so you think, why the hell are we so obsessed with our icons that we sit here and watch them sleep?
She knows people are going to think this means she's out of ideas and that her time's up... So she literally put a "15 minutes of fame" countdown clock onstage with her, having already reached its end. She's a step ahead of you. Always.

EDIT: Forgot to add. What's the primary thing most of our idols get their career start because of? Sex appeal. Britney coasted for years on the whole "Not yet a girl, not yet a woman" persona... As the Rolling Stone "The Tragedy of Britney Spears" cover story says, Britney was created as a virgin to be deflowered before our eyes. Everyone felt like they slept with Britney.
So Gaga's piece about the decline of the superstar? She calls it "Sleeping With Gaga," so we all think it's about our collective desire to have sex with her, and then we're literally just stuck watching her sleep. Brilliant subversion.

Yo lo empecé a ver, pero era muy tarde aquí, llevaba una hora de evento y aun no habia salido (al principio pensaba que iba a cantar o algo xD ). e fui porque tenia que madrugar... Me da pena habermelo perdido, pero no habría dormido nada, asi que bien por mi, supongo.

Y bueno el corto del video yo lo he entendido como que el liquido negro representa la fama. Ella se ve atraida, y la absorbe, pero no tarda en ser corrompida por esta. Su sed de poder la hace destruir lo que le rodea, hasta que acaba con ella misma, se autodestruye... O algo así, básicamente el concepto de la fama que lleva investigando desde la primera vez que nos lo presentó en la gala de Mtv con su actuación de Paparazzi. Que no se si curiosamente, o intencionadamente, ayer cumplía 3 años.
La verdad es que no se si a veces exageramos las cosas, o nos quedamos cortos, con esta mujer nunca se sabe.
PD: A dicho evento acudieron entre otras celebridades, Paris Hilton (la fama en persona) y Lindsay Lohan (una corrompida por la fama), que 'curiosamente'...
PD2: Todo esto por una colonia? Apiádate de nosotros!!! Esto es estar envuelta en un proyecto extra-musical, y lo demás son tonterias.
